Magazine Must Change To Survive
After fifteen years as editor of the magazine, I have, unfortunately, reached a stage where I can no longer put in the time to run it.This is not due to a lack of enthusiasm but rather to a change of personal circumstances.Until recently, I had thought I would have no option but to close it altogether.I have though, decided to continue with a new idea to keep the name going and beable to support the charities that we always have done. My thought is to put all my efforts into the online version of 'Poetic Hours' which has always been located on this site. Hopefully, contributors will carry on sending in their work and, if accepted, it will be published there instead of the hardcopy version. Once approved, I will lay it up in the same way as now - with illustrations and woodcuts, and it will be free for anyone to read. In order to keep it as a fundraiser, I will ask anyone included to contribute towards our charities using Paypal as we do with the existing system. This can be any amount they want (although there will be a minimum of £5 or $10 in order to make it worthwhile processing). In return, as well as inclusion and assisting the charities, contributors will have a showcase for their work that they can link to and bring to the attention of other prospective editors online as well as all their family and friends. There will still be two issues - Spring and Autumn, but these will remain 'live' for a time, after publication.Writers could submit work at anytime and have it added to the current edition or, when that closes, it will be automatically added to the new number. I'll be opening the doors from early March onwards....
