All About...
Poetic Hours
Poetic Hours was first published in 1993. It was formed with the twin objectives of providing a platform for new and aspiring poets and raising money for charity.

It published twice a year initially, in Spring and in Autumn and purely as a hard copy edition. After fifteen years in this format, it converted to online only in 2008. The bi-annual structure was retained but current issues remain 'live' for a short time, enabling the editor to add to them even after publication.
The magazine consists of the poems sent in by long-term supporters and others. The editor personally reads all poetry submitted and selects certain poets to showcase. All are illustrated from the magazine's library of original Victorian woodcuts as well as photographs.

All the writers and poets involved with Poetic Hours forego their fees and write for nothing. In addition, if accepted for publication, they are asked to make a donation of £5 or $10 which is then used to support the various charities the magazine is committed to. The largest beneficiaries in the past have been Family Care and the Star of Hope, reflecting the concerns of our readers. The website's 'Donations' page tells supporters how their money has been spent. Published writers are free to link their work to any other site or use it as a showcase to display to other potential editors.

Since the commencement of publication back in 1993, the sum the magazine has contributed to recognised charities is -
